Woman Killed After Being Hit By Gas Delivery Lorry

Date:

A 41-year-old foreign woman was killed after she was struck by a gas delivery lorry while attempting to cross the road near a supermarket along Jalan Semenyih, Kajang, on Thursday evening.

Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said police received a report on the fatal road accident involving a gas-laden lorry and a pedestrian at about 7.30pm.

Initial investigations found the lorry, driven by a 36-year-old local man, was travelling from Semenyih towards EcoHill to deliver gas supplies when the incident occurred.

The victim was believed to have been crossing the road from the direction of the supermarket before the driver failed to avoid her, resulting in the collision.

Medical personnel later confirmed the woman died at the scene after suffering severe head injuries. The incident serves as another reminder of the dangers pedestrians face when crossing busy roads, particularly during peak traffic hours.

Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death.

Naazron urged anyone with information related to the incident to contact the nearest police station or the investigating officer from the Kajang District Police Headquarters Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, Inspector Mohd Raziman Rasid, at 019-4565502 to assist investigations.

He also reminded all road users to remain vigilant, obey traffic regulations and practise safe driving at all times to help prevent similar tragedies from occurring.
