Police have crippled an alleged cattle theft syndicate in Kelantan following the arrest of 10 individuals, including two women, and the recovery of 32 stolen cows.
Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the suspects, aged between 23 and 71, were detained in several separate raids carried out in Bachok, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Terengganu.
He said the operation was conducted by officers and personnel from the Kelantan Police Contingent Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) together with the Pasir Puteh District Police Headquarters.
“Checks found that all suspects had a total of 55 previous criminal records, including 24 records related to drug offences.
“Initial urine screening also found one male suspect tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said in a statement on Friday.
Mohd Yusoff said police also seized eight mobile phones, a glass bottle labelled Illium Xylazil-100 believed to be a sedative drug along with syringes, a Toyota Hilux and a Perodua Kancil during the raids.
He said the success enabled police to solve 20 cattle theft cases reported across Kelantan, involving estimated losses of RM96,000.
“All suspects have been remanded to assist investigations under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft,” he said.
Mohd Yusoff added that investigations are still ongoing to complete the case papers and identify further details related to the alleged cattle theft activities.
