The National Service Training Department (JLKN) will use SMS as one of its official channels to notify selected trainees for the PLKN 3.0 Series 4/2026 programme, scheduled to run from October 3 to November 16.
JLKN director-general Major General Datuk Marzuki Mokhtar said the move was introduced as an additional method to deliver selection information more quickly, directly and effectively.
He explained that the SMS would act as a prompt for selected candidates to check the ePLKN website for complete information, including reporting instructions, selection status and the necessary steps they must take.
“This approach takes into account previous challenges where some candidates were unaware of their selection status or overlooked information regarding reporting dates and requirements, resulting in some failing to turn up as scheduled,” he said in a statement.
Under the new notification system, candidates will receive alerts through the mobile phone numbers registered in the system. This will allow JLKN to send information to a large number of candidates simultaneously without relying entirely on existing publicity channels or requiring candidates to repeatedly check the ePLKN website.
Meanwhile, selection status for prospective Series 4/2026 trainees, particularly those born in 2008, can be checked through the ePLKN 3.0 system from 11am tomorrow.
Selected candidates must also confirm their attendance through the ePLKN 3.0 system by September 18 to ensure a smooth registration and administrative process.
Marzuki said JLKN plans to operate eight National Service Training Branch Camps (CLKN) for Series 4/2026.
Three camps are currently operational, namely Camp 504 Bukit Keteri in Perlis, Camp 505 Pekan in Pahang and Camp 515 Kuala Lumpur.
Five additional camps are expected to be opened for the same series, comprising Camp 503 Hutan Melintang in Perak, Camp 506 Sungai Durian in Kelantan, Camp 513 Bukit Pinang in Kedah, as well as two alternative camps involving public training institutes in Sungai Petani, Kedah and Tuaran, Sabah.
Marzuki said the use of public training institutes reflected the Government’s strategic approach through inter-agency cooperation to strengthen the implementation of PLKN 3.0, which remains a national priority.
He added that the arrangement would also allow more young Malaysians to participate in the programme in stages throughout the year.
JLKN is targeting a total of 13 PLKN camps to support the implementation of PLKN 3.0. However, some of the planned facilities are still undergoing development and upgrading works in phases.
The use of alternative camps will therefore help increase training capacity and support the targeted intake of trainees this year.
