A giant python measuring around seven metres long was reportedly electrocuted after climbing a utility pole in an attempt to attack three resting pigeons in Peru.
The dramatic incident, which was captured on video and recently went viral online, reportedly happened in the central region of Seville. The footage has attracted millions of views, with viewers stunned by the unexpected outcome.
According to reports, local residents witnessed the enormous snake wrapping itself around a concrete electricity pole as it slowly made its way towards the pigeons perched above.
The python appeared to prepare for an attack when its head accidentally came into contact with a high-voltage power line.
Sparks were reportedly seen coming from the snake’s head, sending the pigeons flying away in fright. As the python fell from the pole, it apparently came into contact with the high-voltage wires again and was electrocuted for a second time.
The snake subsequently crashed to the ground and died, while the pigeons escaped unharmed.
The exact date of the incident remains unclear, although the video was uploaded to social media on Aug 6 and quickly spread across the internet.
Some online users questioned whether the footage had been generated using artificial intelligence, given the unusual nature of the incident.
However, experts reportedly said similar incidents involving snakes being electrocuted while attempting to hunt around power infrastructure can occur in tropical regions.
