Man Gets Hit In Face By Flying Shoe On Roller Coaster, Then Somehow Catches It

Date:

A man riding a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia in the United States was left stunned when a flying shoe struck him directly in the face before he somehow managed to catch it.

The bizarre incident was captured entirely on his Meta smart glasses and has since attracted attention online.

According to footage posted by the Instagram account coasters.haunts.darkrides, the roller coaster was travelling at around 113km/h when a white sports shoe suddenly came loose from a passenger in the row ahead and flew towards the man’s face.

The man could be heard shouting, “Oh my God!” moments before the shoe struck him. However, instead of simply watching it fall away, he quickly reached out and managed to grab it.

As the roller coaster continued accelerating, the man held tightly onto the shoe, preventing it from falling onto the track or into a lake below.

“I caught it! I caught the shoe!” he excitedly shouted after securing the unexpected flying object.

When the ride eventually came to a stop, the man proudly told fellow passengers that he had been hit in the face by a shoe and somehow managed to catch it.

He later succeeded in locating the shoe’s owner and returned it. The owner’s friends reportedly reacted with cheers and applause after seeing what had happened.

The account that shared the footage said the catch was completely unexpected and had not been staged or planned.

The Meta smart glasses provided a first-person recording of the entire bizarre encounter, including the moment the shoe hit the man’s face and his split-second reaction to catch it.
