Five Men Arrested After Security Guard Killed in Knife Attack

Date:

Five men have been arrested to assist in investigations into the death of a security guard who was attacked with a sharp weapon during a fight near a row of shop houses in Semenyih early yesterday morning.

Kajang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said before the incident, the security guard had an argument with a friend — a 37-year-old local lorry driver — while drinking together with four other friends.

“In the incident at a field in a Semenyih housing area, the lorry driver injured his finger after being struck with a sharp object and all five men then left the scene.

“At about 4.30am, the lorry driver and his dissatisfied friends went to the 38-year-old security guard’s residence at a row of shop houses in Semenyih,” he said in a statement today.

Naazron said one of the lorry driver’s friends attacked the security guard with a sharp weapon, causing injuries to his hands and body.

“The victim was rushed to hospital by his friends but was pronounced dead shortly after. A post-mortem will be conducted this morning at the Kajang Hospital Forensic Unit to determine the cause of death,” he said.

Naazron added that five men aged 31 to 37 were arrested along with several seized items, and a remand application will be made today to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Preliminary investigations revealed that four of the suspects have prior criminal and drug records, while the deceased security guard had seven previous criminal records.

Members of the public with information on the case are urged to contact Investigating Officer ASP Ong Eng Yew at 012-6966849 or the nearest police station to assist with the investigation.
