Kepong Petrol Attack: Woman Set Ablaze Remains Critical, Suspect Still At Large

An elderly woman who was allegedly doused with petrol and set on fire at a betting premises in Taman Pusat Kepong remains in critical condition following the incident two days ago.

Sentul acting district police chief Superintendent Jasni Zolpa said police were still working to identify and track down the suspect responsible for the attack.

“The case is still under investigation,” he said in a brief statement on Tuesday night.

Police are also reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from around Taman Pusat Kepong to establish the suspect’s movements before and after the incident.

The footage is being examined in an effort to identify the man believed to have approached and set the victim on fire before fleeing the area.

The suspect’s identity and the motive behind the attack have yet to be established, with police continuing their investigation.

The victim, who is believed to be an elderly woman, suffered burns to about 50 per cent of her body after an unidentified man allegedly splashed her with a substance believed to be petrol before setting her ablaze.
