Seremban Council Offers Up To RM50 For Stray Dogs Surrendered

Date:

The Seremban City Council (MBS) is inviting members of the public to take part in its 2026 Voluntary Stray Dog Surrender Incentive Programme as part of ongoing efforts to manage the stray dog population in the district.

Seremban Mayor Datuk Masri Baharuddin said the initiative was aimed at improving cleanliness, public safety and community well-being through a more systematic approach to managing stray animals.

Under the programme, eligible participants will receive RM50 for each adult dog surrendered, while RM25 will be given for puppies aged below six months.

Masri said applicants must be Malaysian citizens living within the MBS administrative area. The dogs must be surrendered alive, without serious injuries or signs of abuse, and must not be licensed or accompanied by proof of ownership.

The council, however, stressed that it would not be responsible for any injury, loss or risk involving the person surrendering the animal or the dog before, during or after the surrender or collection process.

The programme will begin on Aug 24, with all approvals subject to MBS’s prevailing terms and regulations. Dog handovers must be made directly to the council according to the dates and locations specified.

Applicants will be contacted by MBS regarding the status of their applications and will receive a copy of the verified dog surrender application form within seven working days.

Dog handovers can be made at the Environmental Health Department, Wisma MBS, between 9am and 4pm, although the operating hours are subject to changes and further notification from the council’s officers.

The initiative is expected to provide residents with a structured channel to surrender stray dogs while supporting wider efforts to keep public areas safer and cleaner.

For further enquiries, members of the public can contact the MBS Environmental Health Department at 06-7654246 or 06-7654298.
