Elderly Man, Eight-Year-Old Nephew Die From Smoke Inhalation

Date:

An elderly man and his eight-year-old nephew died after being trapped inside a shoplot fire at Taman Bayu Perdana, Klang, yesterday.

Klang Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Lim Jit Huey said a post-mortem examination found that both victims, aged 66 and eight, died from smoke inhalation.

He said the findings were made following a post-mortem conducted on the two victims at the hospital today.

“The post-mortem has been completed and the bodies have been claimed by their families. The cause of death was inhalation of fire fumes,” he said this afternoon.

Police also confirmed that their investigation found no criminal element in the incident, indicating that the deaths were linked to the fire.

The tragedy highlights the danger of smoke during building fires, where victims can become unconscious or suffer fatal respiratory complications before escaping the affected premises.

The bodies have since been released to the families following completion of the post-mortem procedures.
