Malaysian motorsport fans will have the chance to watch the Bahrain Formula One (F1) Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) from October 2 to 4, with three-day tickets starting from just RM200 under a special rate for Malaysian citizens.
According to information published on the official Bahrain GP website, MyKad holders are eligible for special prices across six seating categories, with tickets ranging from RM200 to RM2,083.40.
The most affordable option is Hillstand G at RM200, while tickets for Hillstand B and Hillstand C are priced at RM809.60 each.
For grandstand seating, tickets cost RM1,291.40 for Grandstand F, RM1,386 for Grandstand K1 and RM2,083.40 for the Main Grandstand.
The Main Grandstand, Grandstand K1 and Grandstand F provide covered seating and viewing areas, while Hillstands B, C and G are open-air grass areas.
The special rates are exclusively available to valid MyKad holders, with an eligibility verification process required during the purchase.
Transactions will be processed in Bahraini dinars based on the prevailing exchange rate at the time of purchase. Organisers also warned that discounted tickets could be cancelled if the MyKad presented is invalid or does not meet the eligibility requirements.
Children aged between three and six are eligible for a 25% discount, except for Hillstand G. Children below the age of three can enter free of charge but will not be provided with an allocated seat.
Meanwhile, a check by Bernama on the official Bahrain GP website found that strong demand from Malaysian fans had temporarily disrupted online ticket purchases.
A notice on the website said organisers were working to improve the online purchasing experience and urged fans to follow the event’s official social media channels for the latest updates on ticket availability.
Although online purchases have been affected, fans can still obtain tickets through the Bahrain GP call centre at +973 1745 0000.
International ticket prices are considerably higher. Three-day tickets listed on the official website cost US$565.40 (around RM2,310.45) for the Main Grandstand, US$376.20 (around RM1,537.30) for Grandstand K1 and US$350.90 (around RM1,433.92) for Grandstand F.
Tickets for Hillstand B and Hillstand C are each listed at US$220, equivalent to approximately RM899.01.
The special Malaysian rates therefore offer local fans a significantly cheaper way to experience the Bahrain F1 Grand Prix at Sepang, particularly for those looking for the most affordable three-day option.
