Machete Fight Leaves Man With Severe Hand Injury

A 38-year-old man was seriously injured after allegedly being slashed with a machete during a fight involving a group of men near a petrol station along Jalan Bukit Kemuning, Batu 8, Taman Sri Muda, yesterday.

The victim suffered a serious injury to his left hand and is currently receiving treatment at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang.

Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah said the incident, which occurred at about 11am, involved several men who were believed to have been armed with machetes and an object resembling a firearm.

He said the victim lodged a police report after sustaining the injury during the confrontation.

“Police are investigating the case under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting while armed with a weapon, as well as Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt,” he said in a statement today.

Sarudin said investigations were also being conducted under Section 8 of the Arms Act 1960 in connection with the possession of an object resembling a firearm.

The police are now working to establish the circumstances surrounding the fight and identify other individuals believed to have been involved.
