A forested area spanning about 2.02 hectares caught fire near a shop along Jalan Beringin, Kawasan 13, Port Klang, around midday today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at about 1.24pm.
A team from the Port Klang Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene five minutes after the alert was received and immediately began efforts to contain the blaze.
“Firefighters are currently working to put out the fire,” he said in a statement today.
The operation involves a Fire Rescue Tender, a Light Fire Rescue Tender and two water tankers to support the firefighting effort.
Firefighters from the Sri Andalas Fire and Rescue Station in Klang are also assisting at the scene as efforts continue to prevent the flames from spreading further.
The cause of the fire and the extent of any damage have yet to be determined, while firefighters remain focused on bringing the situation under control.
