Two Drivers Held For Blocking Traffic For Luxury Car Convoy

Date:

Police have detained two drivers suspected of acting as unofficial marshals for a luxury car convoy by stopping traffic at Bulatan Lebuh Kota Iskandar, Iskandar Puteri.

Iskandar Puteri deputy police chief Supt Saifullah Jaya @ Yahaya said both men were arrested today by the district Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division following a public complaint.

The investigation began after a video of the incident was widely circulated on Threads at about 6.16pm yesterday. The footage reportedly showed vehicles being stopped to allow a convoy of luxury cars to pass through the junction.

Saifullah said initial investigations found that the supercar convoy was travelling from Puteri Harbour towards Johor Bahru city centre when the two drivers allegedly acted as marshals and obstructed other motorists.

“Acting on a public complaint, the Iskandar Puteri District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division conducted an operation to trace the individuals involved,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 110 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for obstruction and interference offences. Those convicted can face a fine of up to RM1,000.

Police also issued four summonses for various offences involving non-compliance with vehicle specifications. The vehicles involved were seized for further action.

Authorities stressed that members of the public are not permitted to act as convoy escorts by stopping or obstructing other road users without approval.

Saifullah said police would take action against such behaviour, warning that unauthorised traffic obstruction could put both the individuals involved and other motorists at risk.

The incident has also highlighted concerns over the use of unofficial marshals during vehicle convoys, particularly when their actions interfere with normal traffic flow and road safety.
