Double-Storey Terrace House Destroyed By Fire In Cheras, EV Suspected To Be Source

Date:

A double-storey terrace house near Surau At Taqwa along Jalan Murni 10, Alam Damai, Cheras, was completely destroyed in an early morning fire yesterday.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre received an emergency call through the NG999 line at around 5am before dispatching firefighters to the scene.

The operation involved teams from the Cheras Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by personnel from the Sungai Besi and Bandar Tun Razak stations, with a total strength of 22 firefighters.

Kuala Lumpur JBPM Operations Division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the fire involved a two-storey terrace house.

“An inspection found that the fire had caused an estimated 100 per cent damage to the house.

“The fire is believed to have started from an electric vehicle (EV) that was being charged in the foyer of the house,” he said in a statement today.

Despite the extensive damage, Ahmad Mukhlis confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.

Firefighting and safety inspection operations were fully completed at around 6.41am.
