A condominium in Brickfields is believed to have been used as a storage and distribution centre for drugs after police seized nearly 80kg of methamphetamine and 30kg of ecstasy in a raid on August 9.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the operation, conducted by the Kuala Lumpur Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), also led to the arrest of a 36-year-old foreign national.
“Following the arrest, police conducted a further raid at a related premises and discovered a quantity of drugs believed to have been intended for local distribution.
“The premises are believed to have been used to store and distribute drugs,” he said at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters on Wednesday.
Fadil said the suspect is a Vietnamese national who holds a Canadian passport.
The suspect has no previous criminal or drug-related record and has been remanded for 11 days until August 20 to assist investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Police also seized a Proton X50 worth approximately RM85,000 under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988.
Fadil said investigations were ongoing to identify the suppliers, intermediaries and other individuals linked to the drug distribution network.
“The supplier is believed to be from outside Kuala Lumpur, and intelligence operations are being conducted to identify the supplier and other individuals involved,” he said.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to dismantle the wider network behind the alleged drug distribution operation.
