Police Still Unable To Identify Woman Found Dead Inside Suitcase In Sungai Perak

Date:

Police are still working to identify a woman whose body was found inside a suitcase in the shallow waters of Sungai Perak near Jeti Lembah here last Friday.

Kuala Kangsar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Heisham Harun said efforts to establish the victim’s identity included checking her fingerprints with the Perak National Registration Department (JPN), but no matching record was found.

He said the woman was also believed to be a foreign national, as no evidence of a Bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccination mark was found on her body.

“An autopsy conducted by a forensic pathologist from Taiping Hospital found that the victim was a woman believed to be in her 30s.

“However, her identity has yet to be established as no identification documents were found with her,” he said today.

Heisham said the woman was approximately 154cm tall, weighed 48kg, had a medium-brown complexion and shoulder-length black hair.

At the time her body was discovered, she was fully clothed in a black-and-white striped long-sleeved shirt, black jeans and earrings.

He urged anyone with information about the incident or who has a missing family member who may be linked to the case to contact investigating officer Assistant Superintendent Mohamad Fadhil Ab Wahab at 019-7272033.

Information can also be channelled to the Kuala Kangsar District Police Headquarters Operations Room at 05-7762222.

The woman’s body was discovered by members of the public inside a suitcase in the shallow waters of Sungai Perak near Jeti Lembah on August 14.

The case has been classified as murder and is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
