Date:

A total of 46 compounds were issued during an integrated compliance operation targeting local traders in conjunction with the Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Selangor.

The operation, which began at 10.45am today, was jointly conducted by the Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN), Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), Health Ministry (MOH) and Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).

Selangor KPDN enforcement chief Mohd Hanizam Kechek said the operation focused on ensuring traders complied with regulations covering legal requirements, cleanliness, health, business registration and licensing.

“Based on the inspections, Selangor KPDN issued five compounds under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.

“MBSA issued 31 compounds, while SSM issued 10 compounds for various offences under their respective jurisdictions,” he said in a statement today.

The Health Ministry also issued one notice to a trader for failing to display the required no-smoking warning sign.

Meanwhile, Mohd Hanizam said a total of 84,438 inspections had been conducted nationwide this year involving various laws under the ministry’s jurisdiction.

Of these, 1,807 cases were recorded, involving total compounds worth RM20,000, while the value of seized goods stood at approximately RM9.3 million.
