A babysitter was fined RM2,000 by the Ayer Keroh Magistrates’ Court today after pleading guilty to injuring a 21-month-old girl by pinching her genitals and causing bruising last year.
Magistrate Uthman Abd Ghani imposed the fine after Masmariati Samsudin, 44, admitted to the offence when the charge and facts of the case were read out in court.
According to the charge, Masmariati was accused of intentionally causing injury to the toddler at a house in Jalan Desa Taming Sari 3, Sungai Udang, here, on February 13, 2025.
The offence was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which covers voluntarily causing hurt.
The case came to light after the child’s mother collected her from the babysitter’s home at around 7pm on the day of the incident.
The mother reportedly noticed bruising on her daughter’s body and subsequently raised concerns over how the injuries had occurred.
