The mystery surrounding the discovery of a headless woman’s body parts inside a wheeled suitcase on a train in Agra has taken a disturbing turn after police found more remains at a house near Chennai.
The decomposed remains were discovered inside a red suitcase in the rear general compartment of the Tamil Nadu Express when the train arrived at Agra Cantonment Railway Station at around 5am on August 5.
Following the discovery, Agra Railway Police launched an investigation and identified the victim as 38-year-old Hayathun Nisha from Jagatsinghpur, Odisha.
Nisha, who was married to Jahhur Khan, was reportedly working for a private company in Chennai.
Based on information gathered by Agra Railway Police, the Chennai Central Government Railway Police (GRP), together with the Criminal Intelligence Branch (CIB) of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), examined CCTV footage from Platform 4 at Chennai Central.
The footage reportedly showed a man and a woman carrying a suitcase resembling the one later found on the train. The pair were seen boarding the Tamil Nadu Express, which departed Chennai Central for Delhi at around 10pm on August 3.
Further analysis of the CCTV footage enabled investigators to trace the pair to a house on Masuthi Street in Guduvanchery, where they were believed to have previously lived.
Police raided the property on Friday and reportedly discovered several more body parts belonging to a woman inside a large container.
Investigators believe Nisha had previously lived at the house with two suspects, identified as Manik Uddin Laskar from Assam and Bhagabati Majhi from Odisha.
Both suspects remain at large, prompting police to form several special teams to track them down.
Guduvanchery police are continuing their investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding Nisha’s death and determine the motive behind the suspected murder.
The investigation is also being pursued following a missing-person report filed by Nisha’s son.
