Japanese National, Two Taiwanese Men Arrested After 21-Year-Old Held Against His Will In Seri Manjung House

Date:

Three men — a Japanese national and two Taiwanese nationals — were arrested after they were suspected of unlawfully confining a 21-year-old Chinese national at a house in Seri Manjung on Tuesday.

Manjung district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hasbullah Abd Rahman said police received a complaint from the victim through WhatsApp at around 10.30pm, claiming that he had been confined inside the house.

He said a team of police officers went to the location at about 12.15am and arrested the three suspects, aged between 21 and 33.

“The victim, who was suspected to have been unlawfully confined, was rescued. Preliminary investigations found that the suspects allegedly confined him because he refused to follow their instructions,” Hasbullah said in a statement.

He added that the victim did not know any of the three suspects.

All three suspects have been remanded until Aug 29 to facilitate investigations under Section 342 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1953/63.
