A 24-year-old man died after falling from the 11th floor of a residential building in Jalan Lembah Pantai while allegedly attempting to evade police.
Brickfields district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook said officers received a distress call from the man’s mother at about 10.57pm on Wednesday.
She had reportedly contacted police seeking assistance after her son allegedly became aggressive at home.
Police personnel arrived at the residential building and attempted to intervene, but the man reportedly ran towards the edge of the building.
He allegedly tried to climb down from the 11th floor towards the 10th floor before falling.
Medical personnel from Universiti Malaya Medical Centre subsequently attended the scene and confirmed that the man had died at the location.
Hoo said police have classified the case as a sudden death, with investigations ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He added that preliminary information showed the man had a history of three drug overdose incidents.
Police are continuing to gather information as part of their investigation into the fatal fall.
