Haze is expected to continue across all divisions in Sarawak tomorrow (August 29), although isolated thunderstorms and rain could bring temporary relief in several areas, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
MetMalaysia’s forecast indicates that hazy conditions will affect the entire state in the morning, including Sri Aman, Betong, Bintulu, Kapit, Kuching, Miri, Mukah, Samarahan, Sarikei, Serian, Sibu and Limbang.
By the afternoon, thunderstorms are expected in a few locations in Kuching, Kapit, Miri and Limbang. Hazy conditions, however, are forecast to remain in Sri Aman, Betong, Bintulu, Mukah, Samarahan, Sarikei, Serian and Sibu.
The weather pattern is expected to continue into the night, with rain forecast in several areas of Kuching, Kapit, Miri and Limbang.
Haze is expected to persist in the other divisions, indicating that air quality could remain a concern despite the possibility of rain in parts of the state.
Statewide temperatures are forecast to range between 24°C and 35°C.
Meanwhile, conditions over coastal Sarawak waters are expected to remain relatively moderate. Winds over western Sarawak are forecast to blow from the west-southwest at speeds of between 10 and 20km/h, with waves reaching between 0.5 and 1.0 metres.
Northern Sarawak waters are expected to experience west-northwesterly winds at similar speeds of 10 to 20km/h, while wave heights are also forecast to remain between 0.5 and 1.0 metres.
Residents and motorists are advised to remain alert to changing weather conditions, particularly in areas affected by haze and thunderstorms.
