Post-mortem examinations have confirmed that two children found dead with their parents at a home in Desa ParkCity died from stab wounds to the neck.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the children’s mother, meanwhile, died from sharp-force trauma to her neck and chest.
The findings provide further details into the deaths as police continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, including whether a suspected love scam and debts amounting to RM260,000 were connected to the incident.
Fadil said the post-mortem examination on the couple’s daughter was conducted at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine at Kuala Lumpur Hospital yesterday, beginning at 9am and ending at noon.
“The post-mortem found that the cause of death was a stab wound to the neck,” he said, according to Berita Harian.
The examination of the mother was conducted from about 2pm to 7.30pm, with doctors determining that she died from sharp-force injuries to the neck and chest.
The couple’s son also underwent a post-mortem examination yesterday, which lasted from 2pm until 5pm. His cause of death was likewise determined to be a stab wound to the neck.
Police have identified the children’s father as the suspected perpetrator, with a post-mortem examination on him scheduled for today after forensic examinations at the residence are completed.
Fadil said the examination was expected to begin at 2pm and finish at around 6pm.
“All four bodies have yet to be claimed and will only be claimed after the post-mortem on the suspect has been completed,” he said.
Forensic personnel from Kuala Lumpur Hospital and the Royal Malaysia Police were also at the Desa ParkCity residence to conduct further examinations as part of the investigation.
Authorities are examining a note allegedly connected to a love scam, amid claims that the family was facing losses and debts totalling RM260,000.
Fadil said the matter remained under investigation, but police had established that the family was aware of the alleged love-scam issue. The mother was also believed to have become involved in an illegal investment scheme.
Investigators are now looking into whether financial pressure and possible shame surrounding the RM260,000 debt could have contributed to the suspected killing of the wife and two children before the father allegedly took his own life.
The line of inquiry followed the discovery of a note believed to have been left by the father on the dining table at the family’s Desa ParkCity home.
Police have yet to establish the full motive and chronology of the deaths, with investigations continuing.
