Three-Year-Old’s RM2,900 Gold Necklace Snatched At Food Festival

Date:

A mother suffered a RM2,900 loss after her three-year-old daughter’s gold necklace was allegedly snatched while they were walking through a food festival at N9 Arena here on Saturday night.

Nilai district police chief Superintendent Johari Yahya said the incident happened at around 9.30pm when the young girl suddenly told her mother that her necklace was missing.

The 29-year-old mother had reportedly attended the festival with her two children earlier that evening. While making their way through the crowded venue, the girl complained that someone had pulled the necklace from her neck.

The mother immediately checked her daughter and realised that the gold chain had disappeared.

Johari said the woman later asked her daughter whether she had seen or could recognise the person responsible. Due to her young age, however, the child could only describe the suspect as a man.

No further description of the alleged snatcher could be obtained from the child, leaving police with limited information about the suspect.

The woman lodged a police report at about 10.30pm, shortly after the incident, with the stolen necklace estimated to be worth RM2,900.

Police are investigating the case under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery.

The incident also serves as a reminder for parents to keep a close watch on young children and their belongings when navigating busy public events, where crowds can make it difficult to notice suspicious activity.
