Nine students were injured after a chartered bus carrying a school group was involved in an accident at a three-way junction along Jalan Kota Belud-Kundasang on Monday.
The bus was reportedly carrying 35 students and a teacher who were travelling as part of an educational visit to another school.
Tuaran Fire and Rescue Station chief Elge Bakuk said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at around 11am.
Two firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene, which was located approximately 39 kilometres from the Tuaran Fire and Rescue Station.
“According to the report received, the accident involved a tour bus hired to transport 35 students and a teacher from a secondary school in the district.
“Nine students sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital for further medical attention,” he said when contacted by Sinar Harian.
The operation was brought to an end at 12.32pm after firefighters confirmed that the accident site was safe and under control.
The circumstances surrounding the crash have not been disclosed, while the condition of the injured students was not immediately known beyond the reported minor injuries.
