Palm Oil Worker Pleads Guilty To Seriously Injuring Father With Jackfruit

A 30-year-old palm oil worker pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here on Tuesday to causing serious injuries to his biological father by using a jackfruit on Aug 13.

Muhamad Zarid Danial Rahim entered the guilty plea after the charge was read before Sessions Court Judge Zulkipli Nik Abdullah.

According to the charge, Zarid Danial intentionally caused serious injuries to his 58-year-old father, Rahim Mamat, using a jackfruit.

The incident allegedly took place at about 11am on Aug 13 at a house in Kampung Sungai Johar, Kuala Krai.

The accused was charged under Section 325 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 326A of the same law.

Section 325 provides for a jail term of up to seven years and a fine upon conviction. Under Section 326A, the maximum prison term may be extended to twice the maximum punishment provided for the offence when the victim is a family member.

The court subsequently fixed Oct 4 for mention of the case facts and sentencing.
