PH Assemblymen Given 30 Days To Repay Negeri Sembilan Allocations Or Face Action

Date:

Pakatan Harapan (PH) assemblymen in Negeri Sembilan have been given 30 days to return state allocations they received before the previous state government was dissolved, with action threatened against those who fail to comply.

Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim said notices were issued to the affected representatives yesterday, adding that several assemblymen, including former executive councillors, had already repaid the money in full.

“The menteri besar’s office issued the notices yesterday afternoon. Some have already returned the full amount,” he was quoted as saying by Kosmo today.

He also confirmed that the former menteri besar had settled the amount owed in full.

Ismail warned that the state government would take action against those who failed to return the allocations within the 30-day deadline. Representatives who have yet to make payment had previously been told to provide explanations and records detailing how the funds were spent.

A total of 17 PH assemblymen and two constituency coordinators had earlier been ordered to return allocations meant for July to September. The money was disbursed just one day before the Negeri Sembilan state assembly was dissolved on June 5.

Ten assemblymen were required to return RM174,000 each, while the Labu and Paroi constituency coordinators, along with seven former executive councillors, were asked to repay RM150,000 each.

However, Nilai assemblyman J Arul Kumar said the allocations had been used for community needs, with some representatives having spent the funds in full.

He added that any unspent money had already been returned to the menteri besar’s office before July 10, together with financial reports documenting how the allocations had been utilised.

This version makes the 30-day repayment ultimatum the main hook while keeping the political and financial angles clear.
