Hadi Ready To Cooperate With Police Over US ‘Plot’ Claim, Says Political Secretary

Date:

PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang is ready to cooperate with police over his claim that the United States (US) had allegedly attempted to interfere in efforts to topple the Malaysian government before 2018.

Hadi’s political secretary, Syahir Sulaiman, confirmed that Bukit Aman had contacted them following several police reports lodged over the issue.

“Yes, Bukit Aman has contacted us. Tan Sri Abdul Hadi has been informed and is ready to give full cooperation to the police.

“The date and time will be determined,” he said when contacted today.

Three police reports were lodged over Hadi’s remarks, including reports filed by PKR Bandar Tun Razak branch deputy chief V Jonathan, its Women’s chief Mazlina Osman and Bandar Tun Razak PKR Youth deputy chief Amarul Hisham Jalil at the Cheras Police Station.

Hadi, who is also Marang MP, made the claim while speaking at the 70th PAS Annual Muktamar at the Pusat Tarbiyah Islamiyah Kelantan.

He alleged that several PAS leaders had been invited to meet representatives of the US Embassy during then-US president Barack Obama’s visit to Malaysia in 2014.

According to Hadi, the foreign representatives had allegedly offered assistance to bring down the government in power at the time.

However, the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has denied the allegation, saying that its representatives had never offered assistance to PAS to topple the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

David H Gamble Jr, who currently heads the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, said the US had never attempted to determine Malaysia’s political leadership.
