The remains of Dr Ainul Baraah Kamarudin, 33, who was among five people killed in a helicopter crash in Sarawak, are expected to be buried at the Sri Kedeper Muslim Cemetery here after the completion of forensic procedures.
Her father, Kamarudin Salleh, 69, said funeral prayers for Dr Ainul would be held at Masjid Al Karamah in Mukim Baung Besar, Pengkalan Chepa.
“I have contacted the mosque management to make early preparations for the burial,” he told Bernama last night.
He said, however, that arrangements for transporting his daughter’s remains from Miri to Kota Bharu had yet to be finalised.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said yesterday that a BO-105 helicopter carrying five people, including the pilot, crashed near the Long Lellang Short Take-off and Landing Airport (STOLport) in Ulu Baram, about 929 kilometres from Kuching.
The helicopter was conducting a Flying Doctor Service (FDS) mission when the crash occurred, according to CAAM.
Miri Division Resident Galong Luang, who is also chairman of the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee, confirmed that all five people aboard the helicopter died in the crash at about 3.40pm yesterday.
The victims were pilot Capt Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, 30; medical officer Dr Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin, 33; medical assistant Alexson Adit Henry, 31; and nurses Debra Moset, 40, and Jessie Paya Jok, 44.
