Former Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim is expected to be released from remand today after the Magistrate’s Court rejected a police application to extend his detention.
His lawyer, Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad, said police had previously applied for a three-day extension of the remand order.
“He will be released today. He only needs to complete the initial remand period that is still in force and will be released before 5pm today after assisting police investigations under Section 420 for cheating,” he said.
Amer Hamzah said this when speaking to reporters outside the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters here on Thursday.
