10 Arrested After Abducted Man Found Dead, Bound In Septic Tank

Date:

Five people have been remanded for four days to assist police investigations into the alleged abduction of a man whose body was later discovered inside a septic tank at a house in Nibong Tebal.

The suspects, aged between 25 and 35, were brought before Magistrate Savinder Singh Jugindar Singh, who granted the remand order from today to facilitate investigations under Section 365 of the Penal Code.

The group comprises three Malaysians, including the owner of the house, and two Myanmar nationals — a man and a woman.

Police arrested the five at several locations across the Seberang Prai Selatan district in separate operations between 2pm and 10pm yesterday.

The arrests followed investigations into the abduction of a 52-year-old man whose body was subsequently found inside a septic tank behind a single-storey terrace house in Taman Seri Bistari, Nibong Tebal.

The victim’s hands and legs were bound, while his body is believed to have remained inside the tank for about two days before it was discovered.

Meanwhile, police have so far arrested 10 suspects in total to assist investigations into the case.

The New Straits Times understands that the arrests involved five Malaysians and five Myanmar nationals, with suspects detained at various locations in Penang and Negri Sembilan from Wednesday afternoon until early Thursday morning.
