A farmer’s plan to check on his son’s vacant rental house ended in tragedy when he was shot dead outside the property in Teluk Bunut, Banting, Kuala Langat, on Tuesday.
The incident is believed to have occurred between 10.30pm and 11pm, with the 52-year-old victim believed to have died at the scene after being shot multiple times.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said preliminary investigations found that the victim was believed to have gone to the property to check on his son’s rental house.
“The victim is believed to have come to check on the house before he was shot,” he said during a press conference at the Selangor police contingent headquarters today.
Shazeli said police had yet to establish the motive as there were no eyewitnesses to the shooting.
“The incident happened late at night and investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause and motive. No weapon has been found so far.
“However, we have identified possible individuals who may be involved,” he said.
Meanwhile, police arrested a local man in his 20s or 30s in the Banting area last night.
The man has been remanded for two days to assist investigations, although police have yet to determine whether he is the main suspect.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
