Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is scheduled to make an official visit to Malaysia next month, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
Anwar said several issues concerning Malaysia-Egypt relations would be discussed in greater detail during El-Sisi’s visit.
“Several matters concerning Malaysia-Egypt relations will be discussed in greater depth during President El-Sisi’s official visit to Malaysia next month,” he said in a social media post on Sunday.
He did not provide further details about the planned visit.
El-Sisi was among the leaders Anwar met on the sidelines of a gala dinner held in conjunction with the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi on Saturday.
Malaysia and Egypt agreed in 2024 to work towards elevating their bilateral ties to a strategic partnership.
Anwar arrived in New Delhi on Friday to attend the BRICS summit, which concludes on Sunday.
Following the summit, the Prime Minister will continue his working visit to Keralam, officially renamed from Kerala, on India’s southern Malabar Coast.
The visit marks Anwar’s second official trip to India since becoming Prime Minister, following his first visit in August 2024.
He is scheduled to leave India for the Maldives on Monday, Sept 14.
