An unidentified man believed to be in his 40s was found dead at the bottom of a 10-metre-deep drain along Jalan Pantai Jerejak, Penang, early Sunday.
The Penang Fire and Rescue Department operations control centre received a request for assistance from police at 2.34am to retrieve the body.
In a statement, the department said firefighters found the man at the bottom of the drain and successfully brought his body to the surface.
The recovery operation was completed at 3.15am.
The man’s body was handed over to police before being taken to hospital for a post-mortem.
Further investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of death.
