A primary school principal in Cambodia has been charged with soliciting a minor for sex and having sex with a child under 15 following allegations of repeated sexual abuse over the past year.
The Battambang Provincial Court identified the suspect as Kak Hong, principal of Wat Keo Primary School in Ek Phnom district.
According to court documents, Hong allegedly lured a 12-year-old girl to his home on multiple occasions between August 2025 and July this year, paying her between 40,000 and 50,000 riel (US$10 to US$12.50) each time.
The girl’s mother allegedly caught Hong in the act on Aug 13 before filing a police report, which led to his arrest.
The prosecutor referred the case to an investigating judge yesterday for further legal proceedings under Articles 34 and 42 of Cambodia’s Law on Suppression of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation.
