The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain and strong winds warning for 10 states until 5pm today.
In a statement, MetMalaysia said the warning covers the entire states of Kelantan and Perlis, as well as several areas in other states.
In Kedah, the affected areas are Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Baling, Sik, Padang Terap, Pokok Sena and Pendang, while Hulu Perak is affected in Perak.
The warning also covers Besut and Setiu in Terengganu, as well as Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Pekan and Rompin in Pahang.
In Selangor, the affected areas are Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat.
In Negeri Sembilan, the warning covers Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah and Rembau.
In Melaka, Alor Gajah and Melaka Tengah are affected.
Meanwhile, in Sabah, the warning covers the West Coast, Interior areas including Tambunan, Keningau, Sook, Pensiangan, Membakut and Tenom, as well as parts of Sandakan and Kudat.
The affected areas in Sandakan are Tongod, Telupid and Paitan, while in Kudat, the warning covers Kota Marudu and Pitas.
MetMalaysia advised those in the affected areas to remain alert and follow the latest weather updates and safety instructions.
