A 20-year-old man identified as Muhammad Faiz Danial Jumri, the cousin of Bersatu Srikandi Muda chief Nurul Ezzati Azmi, was among three teenagers killed in a multi-vehicle crash along Jalan Jelapang-Ampang in Ipoh early Saturday.
Faiz was among three young men who died in the crash involving 12 motorcycles and three cars, which also left nine others injured.
Bersatu Srikandi Malaysia chief Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said the tragedy was deeply saddening, with several young lives lost while others remained hospitalised for treatment.
She said the Bersatu Srikandi leadership and its wider family extended their condolences to Nurul Ezzati and her family, as well as the families of all those who lost loved ones in the crash.
“What makes this tragedy even more heartbreaking for us is that one of those who died was the cousin of the Bersatu Srikandi Muda Malaysia chief,” she said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
Nolee Ashilin said the organisation was praying for the victims, asking for their sins to be forgiven, their souls to be granted mercy and for them to be placed among the righteous and faithful.
She also prayed for those still receiving treatment, hoping they would make a full recovery and that their affairs would be made easier.
Earlier, it was reported that three men were killed while nine others were injured in the crash involving 12 motorcycles and three cars at about 3.35am.
Two victims, aged 19 and 20, were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third died at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.
Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said police received information about the crash from members of the public before officers were dispatched to the scene.
Preliminary investigations found that all the vehicles involved were travelling from Meru Raya towards Tambun when the crash occurred.
