Woman Warns Public Over ‘Wife Flees Home’ Post That Uses AI Image To Seek Donations

Date:

The public has been urged to be cautious of a social media post seeking help for a mother and child allegedly forced to flee their home following marital problems.

A Threads user, @high_sands, claimed the post contained several suspicious signs, including an image believed to have been generated using artificial intelligence (AI).

A screenshot shared by the user showed an original post by Threads account @zabedahbintismail featuring a hijab-wearing woman carrying a crying child.

The post, titled “titik terendah seorang isteri” (a wife’s lowest point), claimed the woman had helped send the mother and child to Sungkai, Perak, after they allegedly fled their home.

The poster claimed she could only afford to send the pair to Sungkai and was unable to provide them with money for their onward journey.

She also urged the public to help the pair, saying she was worried about their safety.

According to the post, the journey would cost RM35 as the destination was in a rural area and required several bus trips, including routes to Bidor, Teluk Intan and Manjung.

However, @high_sands alleged that the post was an attempt to scam members of the public by using an AI-generated image to gain sympathy and solicit donations.

“Scammers are at it again. If you see a post asking for help for a mother who allegedly ran away from home because her husband cheated, just ignore it. Don’t donate,” the user claimed.

The user also pointed out what they described as an unusual detail in the image, alleging that the crying woman appeared to have three hands.

The post was also alleged to follow a scam pattern involving an emotional story, requests for users to share the post or make donations through a QR code, and restricted access to the comments section.

The public was therefore urged to verify such appeals through reliable channels before sharing personal information or making any donations.
