Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi are expected to meet Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir in the capital this afternoon.
Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim is also expected to have an audience with Tuanku Muhriz.
The meetings come a day after Tuanku Muhriz revoked the appointments of all members of the Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council (MMKN) with immediate effect.
According to a statement issued by Negeri Sembilan Royal Comptroller Datuk Azizi Mohamad Ali, the decision was made after the palace found that all 10 Exco members had breached their oath of office.
Azizi said Article XXXVIII(5) of the Negeri Sembilan Constitution 1959 states that a member of the State Executive Council holds office for as long as the appointment has the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar.
However, Ismail today maintained that all 10 MMKN members remain legally in office and can continue carrying out their duties.
He also said there was no need to submit a new list of Exco appointments, citing legal interpretations of the Negeri Sembilan Constitution 1959, particularly provisions concerning executive powers and the position of the state Exco.
The conflicting positions have triggered a constitutional dispute over the status of the 10 Exco members and the respective powers of the ruler and Menteri Besar.
