Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to hit several areas across eight states until 4pm today, according to the latest weather warning.
The affected areas are:
- Perlis — all areas
- Kedah — Langkawi
- Perak — Kinta, Kampar, Hulu Perak and Kuala Kangsar
- Kelantan — Gua Musang
- Terengganu — Kemaman and Dungun
- Pahang — Temerloh, Raub, Bentong, Cameron Highlands and Jerantut
- Selangor — Hulu Selangor
- Johor — Kota Tinggi, Kluang, Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Bahru
The warning is issued when weather conditions indicate that thunderstorms producing rainfall of more than 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to continue for more than an hour.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department said a thunderstorm warning is a short-term alert, with each warning valid for no more than six hours.
The latest warning was issued at 1pm today, September 22, 2026.
