Pakatan Harapan (PH) is expected to face another defeat in the upcoming Melaka state election, according to PAS Information Chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari.
He said the Melaka polls would be an opportunity to realise “ummah unity” and defeat PH across all 28 state seats.
“Melaka has called. Ummah unity will once again be realised. Insya-Allah, PH will face its next defeat,” he said in a statement.
His remarks came after Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh announced that the state legislative assembly would be dissolved effective tomorrow, Sept 23, paving the way for the 16th Melaka state election.
Ab Rauf made the announcement after chairing the final Melaka State Executive Council meeting at the Seri Negeri Auditorium.
The dissolution will allow the Election Commission (EC) to begin the process of determining the election timetable, including the dates for the election writ, nomination day and polling day.
In the 2021 Melaka state election, Barisan Nasional (BN) won 21 of the 28 seats, while PH secured five and Perikatan Nasional (PN) won two.
The upcoming election will determine the composition of the next Melaka state government, with parties now expected to intensify preparations ahead of the polls.
