IGB REIT Management Sdn Bhd has announced the death of its former chief executive officer Elizabeth Tan Hui Ning, describing her as a leader whose contributions left a lasting impact on IGB REIT and IGB Commercial REIT.
In a notice to tenants, business partners and colleagues on Monday, the company said Hui Ning would be “deeply remembered” by those who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.
The company also conveyed its condolences to her father, Datuk Seri Robert Tan Chung Meng, executive chairman of IGB REIT Management and a major unitholder of both IGB REIT and IGB Commercial REIT, as well as her sister Gabrielle Tan Hui Chween, who serves as chief brand officer, and the rest of the family.
Hui Ning, 42, had built a career spanning more than two decades in the property sector.
She graduated with First Class Honours in Business Administration from Cardiff University in Wales in June 2004 before joining Mid Valley City Gardens Sdn Bhd in August that year.
She rose through the ranks and was appointed executive director in January 2011.
Before taking on the CEO role, Hui Ning served as joint chief operating officer and head of operations and leasing at The Gardens Mall, while also overseeing the mall’s overall operations as chief executive officer.
She was appointed interim CEO of IGB REIT Management on January 1, 2024, following the retirement of Antony Patrick Barragry.
Hui Ning stepped down from the position in March 2025 for medical reasons. She also served as an alternate director of IGB Bhd before resigning from the position in January 2026, also citing health reasons.
IGB REIT Management CEO Chai Lai Sim, on behalf of the board, management and staff, extended condolences to Hui Ning’s family and loved ones.
“During this time of mourning, we respectfully ask that the family be given the privacy and space they need,” Chai said.
The company said details of the wake and funeral arrangements would be announced in a subsequent notice once finalised by the family.
