PAS Information Chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has accused government agencies of being used to suppress political opponents following the Registrar of Societies (RoS) order suspending all activities involving Perikatan Nasional (PN).
In a Facebook post, Ahmad Fadhli said those currently in power could use their authority as they wished, but warned that political circumstances could eventually change.
“You have the power, so do whatever you want. Use all government agencies to oppress your opponents,” he said.
“But remember, the time will come when you will be on the other side,” he added.
The remarks came after RoS issued an order suspending all PN activities effective September 23 under Subsection 13(2A) of the Societies Act 1966.
RoS said the suspension followed a notice issued to PN on September 22 seeking an explanation over a complaint submitted by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
The regulator stressed that the suspension was a temporary measure and did not amount to the cancellation of PN’s registration.
PN has been given the opportunity to respond to the complaint before RoS decides whether further action is necessary.
The development comes as PN is also preparing for the Melaka state election following the dissolution of the Melaka Legislative Assembly.
The suspension has raised questions over how the order could affect PN’s activities and operations while it remains in force.
