Several areas across 11 states are expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds until 1pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In an alert issued at 8.45am, MetMalaysia said the adverse weather could affect parts of Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan.
In Pahang, the affected areas are Bera, Rompin and Bentong.
Several districts in Selangor are also under the warning, including Petaling, Klang, Hulu Langat, Sepang, Kuala Langat, Kuala Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Selangor.
The warning covers the whole of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.
In Johor, thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are forecast in Pontian, Batu Pahat, Muar, Tangkak and Segamat.
In Sarawak, affected areas include Kapit, Bukit Mabong, Song, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Julau, Sibu, Kanowit, Selangau, Mukah, Bintulu, Tatau, Miri, Marudi and Limbang.
Meanwhile, in Sabah, the warning covers parts of the interior, including Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Sipitang and Membakut. The whole of Labuan is also under the thunderstorm warning.
MetMalaysia urged the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions while the warning remains in effect.
People are also advised to avoid open areas during thunderstorms and not to seek shelter under trees due to the risk of lightning strikes.
