A customer in Foshan, Guangdong, China, has claimed that he found white worms inside bread purchased from Sam’s Club, prompting an online discussion after he shared a video of the discovery.
According to the customer, identified as Liao, he ordered the bread through Sam’s Club’s express delivery service on September 22.
He said he took the bread out of his refrigerator the following day and noticed what appeared to be several white worms inside the product.
Liao subsequently contacted Sam’s Club over the incident. The company refunded the purchase and agreed to compensate him 10 times the value of his order, amounting to 1,020 yuan (around RM600).
Sam’s Club headquarters confirmed that the 1,020 yuan compensation would be credited to Liao within seven working days.
However, the company said it had yet to determine how the worms came to be inside the bread.
The incident was reported on September 28 after Liao’s video circulated online and attracted attention.
