A man believed to have mental health issues was found dead after falling from a breakwater at Kemayang Beach on Thursday.
The 38-year-old victim was discovered by members of the public at around 11:50 a.m.
Bachok Fire and Rescue Station Operations Commander, Senior Fire Officer I (PBK I) Ibrahim Mohd Rohni, said the emergency call was received at 11:54 a.m., prompting a fire engine with seven personnel to be dispatched to the scene, located 26 kilometers away.
“Upon arrival at 12:37 p.m., the 38-year-old victim had already been found by members of the public. An examination by the Ministry of Health confirmed that he had passed away,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
The victim’s body was then handed over to the police for further action.
“The operation was fully concluded at 1:03 p.m.,” he added.
Meanwhile, Bachok Deputy District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Mohd Azrie Sulaiman, confirmed the incident, stating that the body was sent to Hospital Pakar Universiti Sains Malaysia for a post-mortem examination.
