Malaysia Airlines is advising passengers travelling through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) between October 2 and 4 to allow extra time for their journeys due to expected traffic congestion during the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix Malaysia 2026.
The national carrier said heavier traffic is expected around KLIA and on roads leading to the airport as the event takes place at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC).
While access to KLIA will remain available, passengers have been advised to monitor the latest traffic updates and road closure information issued by the police, and to consider alternative routes where necessary.
Malaysia Airlines also encouraged travellers to use the KLIA Ekspres train service as an alternative way of reaching the airport during the busy period.
Passengers are advised to arrive at KLIA at least three hours before their scheduled departure for international flights and two hours before domestic flights.
The airline reminded passengers that check-in counters for both domestic and international flights will close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
“Malaysia Airlines appreciates passengers’ understanding and cooperation during this period,” the airline said in a statement.
