Uncle Allegedly Beats 7-Year-Old Nephew Found Dead Hanging from Tree

A 46-year-old unemployed man was found dead hanging from a tree after allegedly assaulting his seven-year-old nephew with a hammer at a shop house in Jelawat on Thursday.

The child sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia in Kubang Kerian for treatment. Deputy Chief of Bachok District Police, Deputy Superintendent Mohd Azrie Sulaiman, said authorities were alerted by a member of the public about the critically injured boy.

“The victim was found seriously injured at the shop house, while investigations revealed that the suspect was later discovered dead from hanging on a casuarina tree at Pantai Melawi, approximately six kilometres from the scene,” he stated.

Police are continuing investigations to determine the cause of the suspect’s death.
