Woman Found Dead In Car Shortly After Discharge From Melaka Hospital

Date:

A 69-year-old woman was found dead in the front passenger seat of a Proton Saga parked at Taman Tasik Utama, Ayer Keroh, yesterday afternoon, shortly after she was discharged from Melaka Hospital.

Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Halim Abas said the woman was discovered at around 4pm while still wearing her hospital clothes, with her left arm in a sling.

He said the woman had been receiving treatment for a fractured left shoulder after falling at home. Her 44-year-old son had received a call from Melaka Hospital at about 1.50pm asking him to take her home as she had no change of clothes.

The son arrived at the parking area at around 2.50pm, but his mother reportedly refused to get out of the car.

At about 3.30pm, a 47-year-old neighbour found the woman unresponsive, with one of her legs outside the vehicle.

Police said the woman had a history of diabetes and had previously received treatment at Melaka Hospital.

An examination of her body found no suspicious injuries, and preliminary investigations have found no indication of criminal activity.

Halim said the case has been classified as a sudden death, with a post-mortem scheduled to be conducted at the Forensic Medicine Department of Melaka Hospital today.
