Pakatan Harapan (PH) has yet to make a decision on any political cooperation ahead of the upcoming Melaka state election.
PH Communications Director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said any decision on political cooperation must first be discussed and approved by the coalition’s Presidential Council.
“So far, nothing has been finalised. At the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council level, no decision has been made yet. Not yet,” he told reporters after the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13) Public Discourse Conference: Direction And Challenges here today.
His remarks came amid reports of a closed-door meeting involving several senior PH and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) leaders during a dinner held in conjunction with a Melaka election programme at a hotel along Jalan Hang Tuah, Melaka.
The meeting was attended by Bersatu Information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, Melaka Election Director and Bersatu Melaka Election Director Datuk Seri Mohamad Ali Mohamad, Bersatu associate chief and Supreme Leadership Council member Datuk Seri R Sanjeevan, as well as Bersatu Melaka Information chief Datuk Hishamuddin Abdul Karim.
The gathering fuelled speculation over the purpose of the meeting, particularly as political parties continue discussions on possible cooperation ahead of the Melaka polls.
Barisan Nasional (BN) has also reportedly indicated that it remains open to discussions with PH ahead of the state election.
BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi previously said there was still room for discussions with PH when asked whether cooperation between the two coalitions remained possible ahead of the Melaka election.
